“When the backdrop feels chaotic, our responsibility is not to respond to media headlines. It is to step back and focus on what drives market returns and portfolio outcomes. ….Our process is built for precisely these kinds of environments. We focus on data and adjust when facts change.” This is the underlying philosophy of all our investment partners monitored by AssetMark.
Visit CNR.com/insights/speedometers.html for a 7 minute overview video about current conditions and changes. Topics touched are Iran and oil, steadiness in US dollar and assets, opportunity in Intl stocks, the complications of Ai, private debt, market reviews and reasons for speedometer changes. Thank you, CNR, for generously sharing information!
Off the Ai sugar high, knowing it will take time:
- Ai will change how we work, eliminate some jobs, and create new jobs.
- The disruption is real, but the hype in both directions were overshot.
- While concern is justified, large public software firms have not missed earnings or reported Ai-driven customer losses.
- Disruption is happening today but replacing software ingrained into corporate processes, with high sunken costs and decades of employee training to be immediately replaced by an emerging technology will not likely happen in the short term. It will take time with time to think.

The Electrification of Everything! This advisor webinar by SS&C ALPS Advisor is the realization that the underlying fuel systems to run the often discussed Ai data centers, but include driverless cars, electric vehicles in general and now growing community uses. After decades of electric industry growth of less than .5%/yr, recent years show annual growth between 3-4%. This is a quiet area with huge investment impact. Quick! You can still make the movie at Imax!!

Book / Film were suggested in March newsletter
Imax was a terrific venue for this bigger than life space experience. It will show at Tinseltown thru April 8 with three showtimes daily. Note: This is a 3 hr film. Be careful about the size of your concession snacks.
Be alert to the remastered showing of Cave of Forgotten Dreams on April 15 and April 19. This documentary showcases the 30,000-year-old Chauvet Cave paintings. Tickets are available through major chains like AMC, and you should check the AMC Theatres website for Rochester-area showtimes.
Both films will be exceptional experiences to share with kids 10+. They are a digression from the action films that dominate. Oh, the possible discussions!
Quote for times of market confusion:
How the stock market works:
- Short term, it’s emotion and the flow of money.
- Long term, it’s earnings. Share prices follows earnings….eventually.
Note: Kathy will be in the Office April 6 to 23. Josh is local, accessible and always appreciated.
